I have been writing blog posts about my birthday each year for as long as I can remember. I did them on Xanga, then MySpace, even some posted on Facebook back when our parents weren’t on it.
I had an official Wordpress blog for awhile but now I’m enjoying the simplicity of Substack. As with all social media trends, I’m sure I’ll be in my 80s posting a hologram of myself spewing nonsense - still as angsty as ever.
Last week I turned 35! I joined Twitter in 2009 and blew up online in 2010 so some of you have been following me for FIFTEEN YEARS. That’s crazy! Thank you for hanging around this long.
Leading up to April this year I was nervous that I would have a melancholy, disheartened approach to this mini milestone. Yet, I find myself - my soul, my heart, my bones - quietly grateful and hopeful. Which does not make ANY sense in the current climate of the world right now.
